Blow-drying, so a few words on what I was doing wrong

Hi girls!

Today you’re going to read why my hair became dry, used to fall out in an uncontrolled way, and my scalp was covered with dandruff. Probably you think that it was due to the poorly-chosen cosmetics I applied or because of a disease I suffered from. You couldn’t be further from the truth. The blame has to be put on my… blow-dryer. If your hair also looks similar, maybe you have a similar problem. Find out what is the cause of your persistent, a few-month ‘bad hair day’ and how to deal with it.

Firstly, hot air

High temperature generated by a blow-dryer can considerably harm hair structure and put sebaceous glands out of order. The result? Dry strands and greasy scalp. Believe me, it’s disturbing and unpleasant. What did I do? I followed the advice of professional hairdressers. To clarify, right after washing my hair, I removed excess of water using a cotton and paper towels. I drained the hair, I wasn’t rubbing the materials against my strands. It’s a very important rule that especially girls with fine and weakened hair should apply straight away! What’s next? I set the blow-dryer on the warm airflow, but at the end of the process, I switched to the cool airflow. Thanks to this, hair cuticles closed, strands became smooth and skin pores were no longer enlarged.

Secondly, cosmetic and their application

Lack of heat protection filters and improperly applied hair styling cosmetics can also contribute to deterioration of hair and the scalp condition. Hot air leads to rising hair cuticles, dehydration of strands and excessive sebum production. In order to make blow-drying process less destructive, use a hair mousse or a hair oil with the heat protection feature. However, keep in your mind girls the fact that such cosmetics have to be distributed all over hair evenly. I done this using a comb with closely-arranged teeth. But what should be done when our hairdo looks flat when covered with the styling cosmetics? I find the solution for this problem as well. Instead of applying such products on dry hair, do it before blow-drying. And another crucial aspect that should be added to this point, hair styling products have to be applied no higher than to mid-lengths, but mainly to the hair ends only.

Thirdly, improper devices and gadgets

Maybe, the cause of dandruff and deteriorated hair condition is due to a blow-dryer. Have you ever thought about this? An old blow-dryer, which I borrowed form my aunt, hadn’t got any buttons but ON and OFF. It was really strange to me that I couldn’t switch from warm to cool airflow. Fortunately, when you enter a shop with electronics, you can choose among blow-dryers featuring heat settings, strength of airflow, ionic function, cool airflow, as well as diffusers and nozzles that considerably facilitate hair styling. As you can imagine, I replaced my aunt’s old blow-drier fast. Also, I bought a set of brushes and combs made of natural bristle. Probably you mayn’t know that but a comb or a brush can also cause damage to hair and impede blow-drying. Therefore, for those who care for their hair, I recommend buying round styling brushes, a hog bristle brush or Tangle Teezer.

I’m very curious, how do you girls blow-dry your hair? Please, share your thoughts below!
