Hello Girls!

I know that many of you take spirulina in the form of supplements – I’m not surprised. Alga has become my obsession lately and I think I’ll also get a high-quality supplementation (by the way – if you know any good algae tablets – please, let me know!). In the meantime, I invite you to an alga cosmetic guide and perfect DIY recipes that work wonders for the skin 🙂

Homemade cosmetics with algae – how algae affect the skin?

Before we proceed to the results, I’m sure many of you would like to know why alga is considered such a great cosmetic, what the properties are and how it affects the skin…

Algae is a strong rejuvenating ingredient added to various types of creams and masks. Do you know that one of the most expensive creams in the world (La Mer) is based on the nutritional and regenerating power of algae? They cleanse the skin, stimulate metabolism and help to remove excess water from tissues. Also, they have the power to “heal” the skin and to fight cellulite. Seaweed smoothe and improve the skin tone… in fact, they are suitable for all skin types. They treat acne, prevent and fight acne scars (and any other scars on the body). Algae have a soothing, effect, calm the dilated blood vessels, improve the skin tone. I use them in the form of a face mask and add to the bath as an anti-cellulite remedy. That is why I would like to share my homemade recipes for algae cosmetics:) I hope you will like them as much as I do!

DIY: HOMEMADE PEEL-OFF ALGAE MASK

This mask gives nothing but benefits. It has a number of advantages, and in addition, it can be a base to which you can successfully add a number of other conditioning substances, for instance, natural oils, clays, activated charcoal, baking soda, selected hydrolates. Also, you can enrich the mask with essential oils – it all depends on the skin type you have and the results do you expect from this mask: The alga peel-off mask is suitable not only for the face – you can use it on the whole body – effects will bewilder you 🙂

Algae mask, action: anti-aging, removes dark circles and swelling under the eyes, soothes and brings relief to irritated, sensitive skin, moisturizes, hydrates dehydrated skin, improves color, has anti-inflammatory qualities, regenerates and lightens the skin, brightens the face, has a beneficial effect on couperose skin, it is ideal for people struggling with dilated capillaries, suitable for dry, oily, tired, aging, floppy skin; it firms, smoothes wrinkles.  Wow… I hope I did not miss anything;) Oh, there is also news for people with an oily complexion: the mask has astringent effects and thus perfectly reduces the pores of the skin. 🙂

Homemade peel-off algae mask – how to

Peel-off algae mask (in other words powdered algae, that has been supplied with diatomaceous earth) – it is one of the most popular ingredients in healthy food shops and in all those offering substances for homemade cosmetics. The mask is inexpensive and you certainly won’t have problems to purchase it. To prepare the mask you will need a hydrolat of your preference or simply water (of course, the more valuable the water phase, the better the effect of the mask.) I like combining it with rose hydrolate (for the body) and verbena hydrolate (for face prone to oiliness). You will use about 10g of algae powder and 30g of water or hydrolate.

  • Measure out 10 grams of the dry mask in a container.
  • Add water and mix for about 1 minute (until a soft paste is obtained).
  • It happens that the mask seems too thick, then just add a little more water.

Of course, the mask can be alternated with various ingredients. If you want it to gain stronger anti-cellulite qualities – add a few drops of grapefruit oil to it. If it is to fight acne – I recommend lavender oil … etc 🙂

DIY: HOMEMADE ANTI-CELLULITE BATH BOMBS WITH ALGAE AND LAVENDER

Lavender oil and dried lavender soothe, improve the quality of sleep, soy oil moisturizes, regenerates, smoothes and revitalizes the skin. Laminaria algae have revitalizing, slimming, cleansing and moisturizing properties, support collagen synthesis and improve skin elasticity.

Handmade bath bombs make the bathing more pleasant, especially relaxing after a hard day at work. In addition, doing them is a real fun for the whole family.

Homemade bath bombs made of algae and lavender – prepare:

  • Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) – 500ml
  • Citric acid – 250ml
  • Micronized algae – 25ml
  • Soybean oil – 50ml
  • Lavender oil – 5ml
  • Molds for bath bombs (or just a plastic, empty Christmas glass bauble)

Which algae are best to create bath bombs? I reached for Laminaria digitata, which is a brown alga that grows on the coast from Brittany to Spitzbergen. These algae have revitalizing, slimming and detoxifying properties and they moisturize perfectly. Also, they support collagen synthesis – that is, total anti-aging and skin elasticity improvement. Amazing 🙂

Homemade bath bombs made of algae and lavender – directions

  • Pour 2 x 250ml of sodium bicarbonate into the bowl, top up with 250ml of citric acid, mix well (preferably wooden or plastic spoon).
  • Add algae, mix again.
  • Add oil from the algae and, of course, mix again.
  • Don’t forget the lavender oil (mix it!).
  • Time for witch hazel hydrolate. Add it gradually, ie after 4-5 sprays with an atomizer, mix constantly, do it until the mass gets the consistency of wet snow :).
  • Reach for the two halves of the ball mold. Fill them in (heavily!), and then squeeze them together, forming a ball.
  • Take off the mold half, place the balls on a dry surface and remove the other half. So that the ball does not crumble and has a more compact and durable texture, spray the ball with hydrolate (literally 1-2 sprays) and let it dry.

Wait about a day – then, you will be sure that the bath bomb is ready to use 🙂

Good luck in your at-home experiments 🙂 Make sure to share your work in the comments<3
